Messages That Have Inspired / Vessels In The House Of God
Last post by Rhonda - Mar 02, 2025, 07:56 PM
I stumbled across an article tonight about a very dear friend of mine, Dr. Sam Sasser, who went to be with Jesus in 1995, but who left an indelible mark on my life by his series "Vessels In The House Of God".  This article touches on Sam's book "The Potter's Touch" and the article's writer summarizes the high notes of the book, which was birthed from the sermons God gave Sam about "Vessels In The House Of God".  I loved Sam very much and look forward to seeing him whole.  I'll post his testimony on another board.  But the name of this board is "Messages That Have Inspired You".  That series did more than inspire me.  It changed my life in many ways.

Pastor Ken's Blogs / Re: Kingdom Principles
Last post by Val - Mar 02, 2025, 03:53 PM

Man this board is Fun!

Just have to jump in on this.
It is my understanding, at least for now.  :papa:

-That the "Kingdom" or I guess any Kingdom has 2 attributes.
1. The realm that is inside the boarders of the Kingdom, like Heaven. It has a wall and gates and we can enter through  one gate that is open to "whomsoever". But once inside the gates we can enjoy all the wonders and benefits of its magnificence. We also will be able to see, The King, in fact, we will all have to stand before Him. We, each of us have an appointment. Sorry getting off topic.
2. A Kingdom can control, rule over, areas outside of its boarder. Like Rome, it ruled over Israel in Jesus day but Israel still had its customs and religion and a lot of liberty to go on like they normally did. But Rome ruled over them  and imposed certain things on Israel and its citizens. Like tax's.
So whats it all about. Jesus ruled over wherever He was physically on this earth. We see power coming out of Him. We see diseased people trying to touch Him. We see people trying to push into His presence. But the actual physical Kingdom will come after the tribulation period.

Val's Blogs / My Notes from Communion Servic...
Last post by Val - Mar 02, 2025, 02:41 PM
Communion 1st One
  • Where are they. Jerusalem, Upper room, just the twelve.
  • So there just having a normal Passover Seder...What's that?
  • They celebrate their deliverance from Egypt.
  • Remember the 10 plagues. Remember the last one. The killing of the firstborn male from every house, except....
  • It's when they come together to celebrate how the angel of death passed over the houses that had the blood of a lamb applied on the door posts and the top of the door...This resulted in the Jews getting kicked out.
  • Then He says...............this
  • Luke 22:19   Take eat this is my body, do this in remembrance of me.
  • They probably didn't understand right then because it is before the cross, but they understood later.
  • He just upset everything and they didn't get it.
  • He is saying I am the Lamb. I am who you will remember at this celebration from now on. It is My blood that will cause judgement to Passover. When it is applied to your dwelling. Your flesh that you live in. That dwelling. How do you apply it.
  • John 1:12 But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become the children of God.
  • John 1:29 (John the baptist says) Behold, The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
  • What is Unique about Jesus Blood, It's the blood of The King.......It is Sinless, untainted. It is alive.. His blood is still,,, 2 thousand years later calling out.
  • Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
  • Isaiah 55:1 Come, all who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk, without money and without price.

Last post by Rhonda - Feb 27, 2025, 11:38 AM
Just a reminder that if you are with a group and have trouble finding places after church on Sunday that aren't crowded with a long wait, give The Holy Crab Shack at 1731 N Main St # G, Shelbyville, TN a try.  This business is run by very committed Christians, whose decision to be open on Sundays is to be able to minister to those who stop in.

Check out their FACEBOOK PAGE and give them a like.

Recipes / Sweet Potato Casserole
Last post by Rhonda - Feb 27, 2025, 11:31 AM
Ingredients

4-5 large sweet potatoes
3 large eggs
1/2 cup evaporated milk , or substitute cream, or half and half 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter , melted
For the topping:*
3 Tablespoons butter 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 cup light brown sugar 1 cup pecans , chopped

Instructions

1. Cook Potatoes: Place the sweet potatoes in a large pot. Add enough water to the pot to cover the potatoes a little more than half way. (You will need at least 3-4 inches of water but the water will not completely cover the potatoes!) Bring the water to a boil and then turn the heat to a medium simmer. Cover and simmer until they feel tender when poked with a fork. It may take 20-40 minutes to cook your sweet potatoes depending on the size of the potatoes, but you don't want them to be mushy.

2. Peel Potatoes: Drain water and place sweet potatoes on a plate or cutting board to cool down. Once they are cool enough to handle, peel and discard the skin from the potatoes and place potatoes in a large mixing bowl.

3. Mix: Add eggs, evaporated milk, vanilla, sugar, salt, and butter and mash everything together until smooth. I start with a potato masher, and then use an electric mixer on low speed, for about 45 seconds, to get the mixture smooth.

4. Pour mixture into a lightly greased casserole dish. Anything around the size of an  8x11'' , 9x13'' or even a deep dish 10'' pie pan will work.

5. Make Topping: Add flour, brown sugar and pecans to a mixing bowl. Add butter and cut in with a fork or pastry blender until well combined. Sprinkle topping over sweet potato mixture.

6. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes.

7. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 4-5 days.

Notes

Topping: To add a marshmallow topping instead, top the casserole with a layer of miniature marshmallows and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the marshmallows are puffy and browned.

*Nut Allergy: Omit the nuts, or add about 1/2 cup rolled oats instead, for texture.

Make-Ahead Instructions: You can prepare this easy sweet potato casserole recipe 1-2 days in advance. First make the filling and smooth into your baking dish. Make the topping, but store separately. Add topping before baking.
